Draft Logo Design

We created this draft design of a logo using photoshop with consideration to our decided font choice which fits in well with our genre and brand identity for Veronica Summer. The flower image is a sample and gave us good practice for cutting and editing images on Photoshop, however in the real copy we plan to use an image of a tattoo (possibly of a dahlia flower) which will be seen on our artist's arm.

Our Artist's Record Label

Our artist would most likely be signed to Epic Records, a record label owned by Sony Music. The label was at first known as a Jazz denomination of artists that didn't fit the more mainstream artists of sister company 'Columbia Records'. This really works well for our artist who doesn't want to be seen as a mainstream manufactured singer but also the fact that it is owned by a big company Sony Music, marketing would be effective and reach our target audience.

Other soul artists similar to our own artist Veronica Summer are signed to the label such as Sara Bareilles, Natasha Bedingfield and Paloma Faith. Therefore, our artist would fit in with the label and would be effectively marketed as Epic Records have dealt with similar female soul singers before.

Talent Release Form

We asked our artist (Kayleigh) to fill in this form as it's important she recognises where our work will be displayed and how all footage and images of her will be used while she's in role as our artist 'Veronica Summer'. By her signing this form she is accepting our usage of footage and images we take of her being posted online and also at our school's media showcase.

Track Permission Letter

Cameron wrote this track permission letter on our group's behalf, writing a permission letter to Sony Music for the allowance to use Paloma Faith's track 'Technicolour' is important as legal matters need to be addressed and the record label have to be aware that we are creating a professional style music video for the track and that it will be used for our Media A-level.

Location Permission Letters

I sent this email to North Cheam Sports & Social Club, which we decided as a group was our first choice location to film in. The email asks permission to use the large and small function room in the Social Club with the promise to leave the premises how we found it and to accredit them in our final product. This is important because without permission from the club manager, we wouldn't be able to use the location and therefore go forward with our ideas. It was also important to put forward that we are serious students and that we would look after the location.

In return, we received this letter from the Social Club confirming our booking of the function rooms and the conditions of our usage.

Draft Advert Design

This is my group's first attempt at a draft advert design. I feel that in general, the draft works well and fits the genre but is very basic.

I downloaded suitable font and researched other magazine adverts to ensure that my draft fitted the conventions of an advert, however I didn't manage to use more conventions such as a BlackBerry barcode, which we will definitely use in our completed draft.

Our font placement and colour also worked well with the whole scheme of the advert, although due to the fact that I am not fully confident with using photoshop, I didn't manage to change the background as I'd originally hoped. Therefore, I've learned from this practice to improve my photoshop skills but also to continue practicing for our final draft.
